Track Biography:
The Stonehall Harriers were formed in 1911 and have their kennels in Bansha Askeaton, Co. Limerick.
Point-to-points have been a large part of the hunts calendar for many years.
We now run 3 meetings a year Ballysteen & Moig South.
Many talented riders and horses have graduated from the Stonehall Harriers point-to-points Adrian Maguire rode his first winner on this track which we hope to see this continuing in the years to come.
This will be our second year in Cragmore on the Costello’s Family land and is a terrific track which is always very well received.
Grade 1 winner Death Duty won his four-year-old maiden here in 2015 and provided Derek O’Connor with his 1000th winner between the flags, making him the first point-to-point rider to ever achieve this remarkable milestone.

Our point-to-point is located forty minutes from Shannon airport.

Our point to point offers spectator’s brilliant viewing facilities and race goers can get really close the action.
We have parking facilities for any of disabled spectators, where they will get a great view of the track.
We have a road way into the point-to-point with an unlimited amount of parking spaces. We also have a marquee on the day which racegoers can shelter in if the weather turns wet.
We have plenty of portaloos situated around the field also.
Our betting ring is located beside the parade ring. Some of our bookmakers will also take bets on track racing and sometimes provide pictures of the track racing also.

Our Ladies Committee doing the catering on the day where they serve freshly made sandwiches and cakes in our hospitality tent.
We also have a chip van on site for anyone looking for something a little more substantial & for the first time we will have a mobile PIZZA van on site this year.
For the children and those with a sweet tooth we have a sweet stand which sells a variety of confectionery.

Our hot food caterer and sweet stands also have a selection of refreshments on offer.
So there is something to suit all the family!
No dress code, but it is advisable to wear appropriate winter gear as the weather varies a lot this time of year. Wellies are a must!
Yes, but please keep them on a lead.
Yes! Picnics are welcome but please use waste bins provided.
At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.
We do not have an ATM on site but Askeaton is our nearest village which is located not too far from the track.

Cragmore point-to-point is the perfect day out for the family in the countryside and as an added bonus for parents all children U16 have free admission.
With Limerick city only 30 minutes from the track, there is an endless amount of attractions to keep you busy within the area. The picturesque town of Killarney is also only an hour and half drive from the point-to-point.

Ian McCarthy has had a winner and two placed finishers from five runners this season and he can enhance that strike rate here with REDZY ROCCO. She was only denied by a neck when finishing third in a four-year-old maiden at Dromahane at the end of December and looks to set the standard for this. Desperado Genie was unlucky at Tattersalls on her debut when meeting interference before the last which looked costly. Expect her to go close whilst Eve Moneypenny would certainly have finished placed at Carrigarostig recently on her debut but for falling at the last and cannot be discounted.

DRUMCLIFF BAY had the misfortune of falling twice within 48 hours when lining up at both Dromahane and Ballindenisk over the Christmas and New Year period and he would have finished a strong second on his latest outing only to come down at the last. If over those exertions he would look to set the standard for this. His stable companion Iris Des Issards also offered promise on his debut whilst Bitsnbuckles and stable debutant Brunello are others not without their chances.

WINGED LEADER is the current second favourite for the Cheltenham Festival Hunter Chase and he could have his first outing since narrowly denied by Billaway at last years Cheltenham Festival. He is sure to come on for the run but he has not been beaten in a point-to-point since 2019 and is the class act of the race. Everlastingpromise is a former Grade B winner over shorter trips and is an interesting addition to this sphere, whilst Er Dancer, Chatham Street Lad, Aloneamongmillions, and Killulgtagh Vic all add real depth to this.

ROCKANDROSE more than justified the patient approach of his connections when winning his maiden at the age of eight by a wide margin in Tinahely recently. A number of the well beaten horses that were in behind him franked the form by fighting out the finish of a similar race at Ballycrystal last Sunday and he could have the edge over Gorthill. He chased home a stable mate of the selection at Loughanmore and is the obvious danger given that Ultimate Optimist has since won a Hunter Chase, whilst Old Style Humor, Indian Louis and Iron Allen are others that can have an impact.

FOCUS POINT made a very encouraging return to action at Borris House last month when finishing second in a big-field maiden that has already produced two subsequent winners. He set a strong gallop that day and could open his account for the second time in this. Longhouse Star has an alternative option but if coming here would be the obvious danger given his unlucky final fence fall in Boulta. Custers Mistake has joined new connections and was twice placed over fences on the track last summer, whilst Cold Sobar and Royal Rocco are others with definite place claims.
